| Week 32 |
|
Week 32Baby sleeps approximately 90 to 95 percent of the day now and should start to chill out a bit this week. At week 32, her movements feel more like squirms and rolls rather than hyperactive kickboxing sessions. That’s because, this week, she has begun to run out of room (or should we say womb?). She is now between three and four pounds and 16-19 inches long (or as one web site puts it: “Your baby now measures the length of a sheet of A4 paper” - so if she was born now, at least we know that we could easily photocopy her!) The final touches are being placed on baby’s masterpiece. Most of the wrinkles are disappearing from her face, eyelashes, eyebrows, and the hair on her head are evident. The lanugo hair that has covered her since the beginning of the second trimester is falling off, although some may remain on the shoulders and back at birth. Her skin has become thicker and she continues to gain more of a pinkish colour. Although she still relies on the umbilical cord for nourishment, her digestive tract is almost fully developed, as is her brain and nervous system - but if she were born now her sucking action would still be weak. |
